AZ, born Anthony Cruz, is a rapper from Brooklyn, New York City, best known for his smooth flow and complex lyricism. He first gained significant recognition with his guest appearance on Nas's 1994 debut album "Illmatic" on the track "Life's a Bitch." His own debut album, "Doe or Die" (1995), received critical acclaim with hits like "Sugar Hill." AZ was also a member of The Firm, a supergroup with Nas, Foxy Brown, and Nature. Throughout his career, he has released several respected solo albums, including "Pieces of a Man" and "Aziatic."
